Word of the Day

Word of the Day

Hello and let me immediately manage your expectations.

Word of the Day will be an occasional feature. I will share one as and when I discover something interesting. It should not to be confused with me posting a word daily because, well, things crop up, life happens, and I can't be expected to blog all the time.

That said, I'm a firm believer that the way you communicate is a reflection of your intelligence (and often those around you). So sharing some interesting words seems like a good idea. Also, I spent many years as a copywriter. I still am to some extent, so just indulge me ok? It's the right thing to do.

Did you know that Inuits (the people you call Eskimos, you boomer) have over a hundred different words for snow? Well they do.

Today's word: Rime

Noun:

1. A coating of tiny, white, granular ice particles, caused by the rapid freezing of water droplets.

Let's use it in a dialogue.

Kid: "Wow, look out the window mom, there's snow down low!'"

Mom: 'Bitch please, that rime is whack!'

See what I did there? Words are fun!
