Let's just get this out the way, I'm a fan of Top Gun (both of them). Sure, Tom Cruise is weird, it's completely over-the-top and, frankly, the plots don't make any sense. But, few films make you feel part of the action like they do. And given that 99.9% of us mere mortals will never experience what it's like to fly faster than the speed of sound, mere feet from the 'hard deck', or do crazy face-melting high G turns, we'll need to settle for living vicariously through others.
